PIR sensor and outside security light - light is on most of the time!

Options
I started a new thread as this seemed a bit different to other problems i saw.

I have 2 outside lights (porch & corner of house). about 1 year old.

They each have a separate PIR sensor. Idea is that they come on with movement at night.

As far as I know it was working fine.

The inside switch can override for permanent on... or when 'off' its in automatic mode as above.

Now the switch is 'off' but the lights keep coming on... almost as soon as going off. But varies.

There does not seem to be a problem with wind, moving trees, animals etc causing it.

I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for tracking down the problem. Could be faulty PIR (one or both?) ... or???? I dont think the adjustments on the PIR are the problem as they are basically for length of time and how dark before automatic mode works?

any other ideas please?!

Try covering the PIR and see if it still goes on/off, if it does it might be faulty. Otherwise it might just be nextdoors cat? So you could adjust the angle etc.

Does your PIR have an adjustment for sensitivity? Perhaps its at max. On my own PIRs I've had to cover the majority of the sensor to stop it picking up passing cars and pedestrians on the road. A friends had to switch off his light, it picks up steam leaving the neighbours boiler flue.

No - I don't think so. Just the 2 adjustable (day/night brightness - for when to come on - and length of time on)

We are in a quiet spot .. so do not think it is due to a true movement. It happens when there is no wind and too often to be animals.
