BuyNowPayLater on Finance what is it classed as when you want to put on credit card

We bought a television last christmas on Buy now pay later. It was passed to a finance company and if it is not paid for in full they charge 29.5% interest. It is now due to be paid at the end of December and wondered what it would be classed as if we paid for it with a credit card. Would it be a balance transfer or a new purchase.

  • I doubt they would let you pay for it with a credit card. Finance (ie. credit) is not usually payable via another form of credit (eg. credit card). You will probably have to pay with cash/debit card/bank transfer, take out a loan, or just take the 29.5% interest hit.

If you can get a credit card that allows super balance transfers (ie transfer into your bank account ) you should be able to do it.

a BT occcurs when you ask the CC company to do a BT and they agree... most will not do a BT from a loan .. phone the CC company and ask

for it to be a purchase the TV company/finance house has to agree to allow you to use a CC to settle the debt .. some will but best to check in plenty of time.

remember that most of these companies will charge shocking amounts of interest if you are even a day late..so clear the debt in plenty of time.
