yes, me too. but alliance & leicester takes days, so they tell me??????????

It looks like they are making the transfer via BACS which takes 3 days, and if true would be unacceptable IMO. Transfers I make on-line between two of my Nat West accounts (or to my brother's account at a different Nat West branch) go through and show up on-screen instantly. Payments to my Nat West credit card go through on the same day but only show on the next day's on-line statement.

I would ask A&L why it takes 3 days - what payment method and cycle do they use ?

The thread is a year old and fast transfers have moved on somewhat in the past year although I can't help regarding A&L.

We have accounts with Natwest and HSBC and our tranfers are done in seconds wether its Natwest to HSBC or between our visa versa, we have also done transfers to our 2 daughters accounts who use Halifax and Nationwide again these transactions take seconds.

Just to give you an update. A&L stills takes 2-3 days. Hopefully things will speed up with Santander.
  • i know that from abbey to abbey its get 2 days but to another bank i hear that its get within 3 hours for example if i transfer at hsbc, anybody can help ?thanks
  • From First Direct it is now same day - at least on my Credit Card payments.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • A/L fast payment service will only allow upto £250.00 per day. If you transfer more than this amount then the transfer goes via BACS.

This is the reason why I am now Closing My Account with them.
They are a very poor bank and have poor customer service. Arrogent and rude.

A&L is a joke (i;ve known this for a long time it's just yet 'another' example of pathetic service!)

i did an 'internal' transfer from my premier current account to flexible ISA, initially for £1 as a test which was fine and instant, or course being A&L it wouldn't let me do another but i kind of expected that!!! however i set it up to transfer the next day.

today i check and the £5099 is showing as leaving my premier current (running balance £0) but it's not in the ISA so i suspect i now have a 3 day wait or something!!!1

i use or have used virtually all the major online banks and i have never know another where 'internal' transfers between accounts do not happen instantly!!!

A&L is truely awful in every respect :mad:
  • I transferred two amounts on Mon this week within minutes of each other out of A & L to HSBC, the first of £7000. has not arrived in HSBC yet, the second of £400 arrived almost immediately-why the delay
