How long does a "quick" bank transfer between two accounts with the same bank take??

We are with the Alliance and Leicester and this morning did a "quick" bank transfer between 2 accounts in the same name with the same bank.
The money has disappear out of one account within seconds of the transaction but it hasn't reappeared in the other account yet. And nowhere can we find where it states how long the "quick" transfer will take.
Does anyone have any ideas on how long this will take. We were going to start our christmas shopping today
Thank you for taking the time to read our post and we look forward to some replies.

Was it specifically a quick transfer?
I've found A&L transfers a bit hit and miss. Sometimes they are instantaneous, sometimes it takes two working days. Not sure what causes the difference
For example I transferred money out of a deposit account on Sunday - it disappeared immediately but showed up in the current account on Wednesday.0 -
have you tried logging out and clearing your browser cache then logging back in ?????
could just be that simple my Nationwide account does this0 -
I have no experience of A and L but if I transfer between internal accounts on either my HSBC , Barclays or Smile account it is instant.
For example I was paying bills today from Smile and the money was in an interest bearing account but the bills get paid from a cheque book account. I transferred the money from saving to current and as soon as it was done the money showed up and I was able to pay out all my bills.
Also for Barclays I transfer between two accounts in different names as I transfer money under power of attorney from dad's account to mine so I can draw it out in cash for him..and that is also instant.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. With nationwide mine is always instant except for payments to credit cards...0

I have 4 alliance and leicester accounts and husband has 3. I do quick transfers a lot between my own accounts and between mine and husbands, and they are always instantaneous.
Maybe it has something to do with the account you're transferring from?0 -
Just one little niggle of worry I have here. Are you absolutely sure you typed the sort code and account number (if you had to ) of the account to receive the money correctly?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. What are the EXACT type of accounts as A&L have some anomylies as to what can be instantly seen when looking at online banking. If it's a current account it will not show til the next day or even later if over a weekend.
All transfers are generally instantaneous, but you may not directly be able to see them immediately as A&L are a little backward in it's banking methods compared to most other banks. Updates tend to be done overnight rather than through the day.0 -
Hi,
My husband and I had our accounts with Halifax but changed to A&L. Within a few months we changed everything back to Halifax because we found that transfers between our accounts with A&L were taking 3-4 days whereas it is instant with Halifax so maybe you have the same type of accounts as we had.
Hope this helps.

..and have transferred funds from my Halifax account to my student son’s Halifax account on a Sunday night whilst talking to him on his mobile whilst he was standing next to a cash machine.
We must have the same son! Except he taps me with the same ritual on a Friday night via instant Halifax transfers. Only problem is that he's no longer a student .... except he conveniently forgets that from time to time.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
