I have been on this site for a while and have not had the courage to post anything yet. Just a newbie and as an outsider looking in you lot have been really nasty to her (indeep). Maybe she is not a typical bankrupt I don't know but she only wanted advice. I was going to post something but am not going to bother now. I thought as she did this site was not judgemental obviously not. Going to surf the web and see if there are any other sites.
she wanted advice, on how to keep houses abroad, cars and keep renting her house (£1000 pcm) and letting her house to her daughter, now if thats poverty sign me up fast
you go where you like me duck, but i call a spade a spade...Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0 -
aproblemshared, I don't know if you are actually "indeep", posting under a different name!
It seems to me that the poster has been given a lot of useful information by responders who seem to know of what they speak. Also, some critical remarks have been made it is true. She has responded to these with a ferocity which seems frankly quite unneccessary.0 -
BTW, how does "joined November 2008" consititue "been on here a while"....Now we all know how it felt to play in the band on the Titanic...0

maxmy, I don't actually know anything about bankruptcy. It must be really horrible. That still shouldn't stop people from being just a bit humble with posters who are actually trying to help them, as you appear to be doing with "indeep"! (Ok, with the odd sarcy comment!)0

I am not her (indeep that is) I would like her income though. When I said I have been on here a while I mean reading through the various topics and getting an idea of what its all about thats all.
I take on board your comments but we don't know how this affects different people with stress etc. We don't know what pressures she is under, none of will ever know the full story about anyone.Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most0 -

believe it or not, it isnt unknown for folks who think bankruptcy will be a big help in retaining assets whilst "dumping the debt", to pop in and pick the brains of those who have been through it, shocking isnt it....

I would like to pioint out that the day I was made BR came as a complete surprise to me.....yes I was in debt....but the specific creditor that petitioned the BR had been directed by the BR judge just 3 months before to accept a monthly payment offer....returned to court fo what we thought was a check up that we were following order...got a call 30 mins later from OH to say...we are BR.....I had never been on this site up to that point and had no opportunity to prepare myself for something that I had no idea would happen that day.
I have watched this site posted to get help and learnt a lot. In 2 weeks!!!!
Now I don't belive anything I said about/to indeep was sarcastic or such like it was based specifically on fact and rules of OR's that I have discovered in the last 2 weeks....and I have made it clear in any post I have made where it is actually only my opinion and asked for clarification from more seasoned members on those opninions.
All the thread seemed to develop into was a long running....i want to keep my car......but you very well may not be able to......but i need it for x & y......yes but the OR has the power to decide if X & Y are classed as essential.....it will be cheaper than an old banger......yes but in the long run over potentially 3 yrs IPO (which would surely occur with an income of 73K) it would it would be cheaper to make you have low cost makeshift cars......but maintenance would be cheaper......and on and on.
The bottom line to the whole of that is that if they went BR on the day they meet the OR he will tell them what they are and are not allowed....if he says no car then a) you accpet it and cope with banger......b)you appeal.....if you appeal and win great if you fail then presumably it's game over and the OR gets the car end of story finito.
THE OR HAS THE FINAL SAY AND ALL ANYONE HERE TRIED TO DO WAS THROUGH PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OR LEARNING TRY TO TELL INDDEP WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE AND WHAT WOULD BE COMMON PRACTICE FOR THE AVERAGE OR IN THIS COUNTRY.
Indeep may not want to accept that...and I hope she finds another way to deal with her finances other than blunder head long into BR which esp in view of fact that they ran a company and maybe might want to start another might have an affect on their ability to do that.
Some of the posters on here have a certain sense of humour....remember that judging someone by just one or 2 posts doesn't work....look at their other posts beacuse the written word can sometimes be misinterpreted as well........if some of us didn't have a sense of humour and try to make light of somethings with the stress we have felt and feel means we would cry all day everyday.
So think on before you dismiss this board over something you seem to have misinterpreted because you will be missing good sound and helpful advice.0 -
maxmy, I do indeed recall a poster with an alleged thirty k tax debt, asking for bankruptcy advice not too long ago, and then a few days later suggesting that a premium bond purchase was being considered by said poster, God knows from what source!0
