Afraid so folks - sorry for starting another thread, but can anyone help on this one...?
I'm trying to connect up a TV, VCR, Freeview box, DVD and PS2, and have the following outputs:
TV
2 SCART points (one marked "[1]", the other marked "[2] (AUDIO/VIDEO) 2S (S-VIDEO)")
Aerial point
PS2
Three cables - red, white and yellow - currently going into a SCART adaptor
VCR
2 SCART points (one marked "in/out", the other marked "in - satellite")
Audio out (right and left)
Aerial in and out
DVD
One SCART
Audio - front left and right
Digital audio out - optical and coaxial
Video out - video and S-video
Freeview box
2 SCART points (one marked 'Aux', the other marked 'TV'_
RF out
RF in
Before I pop down to Comet and get confused into buying one of those 50-point SCART hubs, can anyone tell me the best way to link this lot up.
Many thanks
PS Don't misinterpret the fact that I am up at stupid-o'clock on new year's day as evidence that I am sad. I can assure you that I am hungover, but it's my turn to get up with our 9 month old, who didn't have the decency to lie in until midday.....

My mum has got the same setup apart from the PS2 but only 1 scart on the TV.
I did hers as..
Freeview to TV, Video to freeview and dvd to video. If you've got the yellow, red and white connectors on the TV then lose the scart connector and plug the PS2 into those.
Or Freeview to TV and video into freeview. DVD to TV 2 and PS2 to DVD.
sod it i'm going back to bed, i've confused myself.0 -
This will depend on whether the VCR can pass through an RGB signal, but...
DVD connects to AV2 SCART of VCR. VCR then connects to AV2 of Freeview box. Freeview box connects to the AV1 input of the TV. This should allow you to record onto VCR from Freeview, however the VCR and Freeview boxes must be in standby to see the DVD player, so you can't watch DVD and record Freeview on the video. PS2 then connects to AV2 of the TV.
The RF (aerial) should go Freeview -> VCR -> TV.
The thing is that only the AV1 input of the television will do RGB and widescreen switching, and you want the DVD and Freeview boxes to be in RGB.
There's clearly a market here for someone to invent a good SCART switching system...0 -
Something like these, perhaps?marksimpson wrote:There's clearly a market here for someone to invent a good SCART switching system...0 -
Oh I know they exist, and I admit I haven't played with them, but I've not yet found one that works simply and without affecting the quality or functionality somewhere...0

Video + DVD + Freeview or Sky = 3 scart sockets needed
(Four if you want a PS2 or Xbox there aswell).
More to the point, 3 SCART sockets which ALL do RGB and widescreen switching.0 -
I bought 2 scart leads, admittedly only using 1 in my main tv and its works fine. Cost £1 from local pound shop. I have latest LCD HDTV/PVr/dvd writer set up and works fine. I am very picky on quality btw. I was surprised how good it was.marksimpson wrote:And it will be rubbish.0

Tried this set up, and although the Freeview box is working, neither the DVD or PS2 are.
Bizarrely, if I put a disc in either of the two machines, and then play a video on the VCR, I get the sound from the video, but the picture from the disc (albeit one which moves around the screen).
Any further suggestions?
PS My TV does have red/white/yellow connection points on the front.0 -
if your TV has the red yellow and white inputs then bang the PS2 into their.0
