What you can pack in a suitcase - daft question!!

Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a daft question. My OH and I are off to America (New York) on the 22nd December to spend Christmas. Does anybody know if you can take wrapped up presents in a suitcase, plus a small fake Christmas tree?? :D I want to make our hotel room a little bit christmassy, plus i want to give him a stocking with some presents in, i love Christmas :j

Sorry again for the silly question, but i don't want to have my suitcase taken away from me because i have wrapped pressies, plus a tiny tree lol.

Thanksxx

  • I don't think there is a problem taking anything like that but like always you will be subject to having your bags searched and that could include having your presents ripped open.

We are going to Florida for Christmas so we will buy a few cheapy decorations there to decorate the room. We also will buy a few little presents there so we have something to open on Christmas Day but leave all main presents at home.

Anything valuable or irreplacable should go in your hand luggage BUT don't wrap them as the authorities either side of The Pond might want to decide to look at what's in the wrapping paper.

Anything valuable or interesting put in checked luggage may not reach the far end
  • My brother came out to visit me for Christmas when i lived in Vegas. He brought presents out for me and when he handed them over he apologised as all of them had been opened up to show what was in them.

Im not sure if he was unlucky or if this is quite normal, thats my experience of it though.
    :naughty:
  • Thank you guys. So i should wrap them when i get there then? packing some wrapping paper should be okay.

I just plan to be a few stocking kind of gifts, little presents to open on xmas day.

    xx
