My husband has 2 hearing aids. He uses ordinary wireless headphone for the telly. He does still need the sound turned up to something terrifying though. We can't watch on the same telly as the level of sound he needs hurts my ears.

One of the first loops I had allowed me to listen in on T setting on my aid, but didn't stop the sound coming in to the room so I could watch tv with the family.
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • hello,
I started to lose my hearing about five years ago in my 20s. It was very hard and still upsets me. I contacted the national assocation of deafen adults which has changed to national assocation of deafen people. They were helpfull with regard to telling me about hearing therists and communication support for work.

Try contacting RIND as they have a shop on their website also LINK which is rehab support for people who lose their hearing, but when I started to lose my hearing it was not profound enough! I was told, but it was profound in my life
I had just got married and faced the shock of losing my hear over time at the age of 25.

I have not applied for DLA as I'm only classed as modrate deafness but some days its very bad. I didn't know you could get it as I thought if you could hear the phone etc?

ive been partially deaf since 18months old and its generally getting worse as i have aged...

i was giving a tv listening device from hospital but i found it clumsy and awkward as it was like big headphones...

i saw a jml advertisement on tv for a tv amplifier for £10 - i went to woolworths and found it there....ive checked the jml website but it isnt on there anymore but if you ask at woolworths or boots they might have one....
