You could try the digital equivalent of hand tinting it.

Or try looking for the original.

If its Picassa it stores the original untouched.
If you still have the application open than try "undo".
If you still have the memory card have a look on that. Even if formatted you might be able to recover the original.

I don't have the original because the photos were taken by a professional photographer. I know he made it greyscale through Photoshop but i can't seem to reverse it.

I'm not a professional but normally would have a backup before diddling with the original. Just in case I made a mistake.

Once its saved it probably removes the ability to go back through the transformations.

I think approaching the professional may be the answer. With your wallet out of site.

There are some people who are professional on the board who will know more.

When a file is converted to B&W and saved as a JPEG, all of the colour information is thrown away. The only way to get a colour version is to ask the photographer if he still has a copy of the original, as suggested above.

Thanks everyone. Tried the photographer but unfortunately they don't have it. OK not to worry i have print copy that i can take to get another copy from, or i can use my photocopier to make a copy.
    :p
  • Take a photo of it then, tomorrow in the daylight.
  • Unfortunately I can't help you with this (I know just how much time goes into recolouring a B&W photo), but I can't believe a pro has not kept the original file.

I suggest you put your efforts into getting a decent scan of the original you have. Your time will be more productively spent doing this.
