ACDC (black ice) at woolworths

Just a warning, do not buy this cd from woothworths, cos even though your saving some money (only cost £7.97) you ruin the cd case when you open it.

Bought this on Mon for my OH for his bday today, he takes off the security seal and the cover of the cd comes off with it as well.

The cd is not in a plastic hard case, like 99% of cds, its cardboard. This i knew, but i just assumed that it would have twice the cardboard.

I thought they'd 'think' and put two covers in, knowing full well that the security tag would damage the 1st cover, but no.

The security seal goes right across, back and front, so you're left with a white strip if you choose to take the whole seal off, or forced to leave it on with a big woothworths logo on it.

I took the cd back to see if they had any without the seal on, they don't, it comes to the store like this, so i asked for a refund. They were a bit hestitate to refund, which is why i thought id post.

I know its only the front cover of a cd, but its such a poor design choice, they could always not have the cd in and get it from behind the desk like a lot of shops do.

So just a warning, cos maybe some will refuse to refund.

Just a warning, do not buy this cd from woothworths,

I couldn't find a branch of Woothworths anywhere.

Best thing with this one - OP noticed it at the time, then damaged it, and took it back!

    You couldn't make it up.

Downloading it online would have been cheaper still...but then you couldn't moan about that. I wouldn't be in the least surprised, actually, if you ripped it onto your computer and then took it back.

Yes, d.edna, that's right. The OP, or rather her partner, pulled the security seal away understandably believing that this would not damage the CD. It did because of a design flaw in the way the seal was stuck to the packaging.

And they didn't just want a refund, they got one, so Woolworths must, however reluctantly, have agreed it was their error.

OP, thank you for posting this as it may stop people making the same unwitting mistake you made. I'm afraid d.edna has considerable 'previous' with being deliberately controversial (look her other postings up if you have the time or inclination), and she will selectively quote from one's posts to try to evade perfectly reasonable objections to her tactics. This, and the fact that, when beaten by logical argument, she resorts to non sequiturs and accusations of 'trolling', leads many of us to suspect she may be a troll herself. Whether she is or not, it's generally best not to do what I do, which is confront her about it, but just to ignore it.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I don't buy CDs from Woolies as a rule but I might've been tempted in there by sale stuff.

    Ignore the trolls above.

    Cheers,

Er, daveboy, I think the OP made it quite clear that they presumed Woolworth's packaging design to be effective which is a fair enough presumption to make.

What is not a fair presumption is that she ripped it onto her computer. She may have done, but if that is the case then her post is a waste of time, and that is a matter for her. That sort of conjecture is unhelpful. I think it is pointless using these forums unless we presume that an OP is telling the truth unless and until it becomes clear that there is serious doubt about it. You have no reason yet to doubt her story except your own prejudices - I see you have been thanked for your efforts by d.edna. That is no recommendation.

To iterate OP, as long as what you say is true you have nothing to justify against these two.

d.edna I am not following you. But when I see you in a thread (and I generally frequent the same small group of threads) you are saying something else controversial so I simply confront it.

If you believe I am a troll that is a matter for you, if you think I should be placed on 'ignore' then don't talk about it, just do it. Until you do, I will exercise my right not to let you get away with unhelpful postings. Although it risks taking threads off-topic, the upside is that I can help to reassure posters who are intimidated or bewildered by your unhelpfulness and rudeness.

Your empty and irrational accusations could be construed as a smokescreen to cover your own mischief, but I shall presume you are not being that cynical for now...

Once again, you have no argument, you just blindly accuse me of being a troll. Again.

It's very suspicious behaviour. Anyway, you won't see this because you have now put me on ignore, as I encouraged you to do.

But I will still exercise my right to counter your posts as far as I am able. And again, it won't be because I am following you, but simply because you say controversial things that you cannot expect to go unchallenged.
  • Woah okay, i put up some advice and look what happens.

Thank you to the kind people, i appreciate your comments. However to those who don't appreciate my help, basically get lost and i hope you get poor products in the future.

The actual lady at the customer service desk was apauled with the design, she couldn't believe that they'd stick a security tag across the front/back cover and then some how expect customers to take it off without ruining the cd cover. (had the security tag been a tiny fold over each side, i wouldn't of cared, but when it goes all the way round i do care).

It was the person she sent for who didn't want to give a refund, but she told him it was a design flaw and he changed his mind.

Im sorry but i didn't pay £7.97 (yes i know its not much) for just the cd inside, i paid for the cd, casing and booklet. Plus its actually quiet nice to be able to read your track listing on the back, not have 2 missing cos of a security tag.

To be clear, my OH did not rip it onto our pc, for heaven sake, it was his bday, he had enough time to open his present and card, be disappointed at colour coming off the case and therefore not be able to listen to it while doing his job (delivery driver) and i had enough time to be annoyed enough to stick the cd in my bag and go off to work myself and return it after i finished work.

Hopefully we won't be able to find a branch of Woolworths soon either.

I certainly won't miss a high street shop that sells rubbish, with or without a security tag.

Erm, I don't think so, I think she got her refund in the end. Bad news for the Rude Squad I guess.
