    It's worse than you think - it's a 33.3% increase...

Blimey, you're right - back to school for me!

I have noticed Tesco's prices going up, but its the only supermarket near me so I can't really go elsewhere unless I want to go out of my way, which would be a pain as I dont own a car.

Their value bag of dried fruit used to be 41p and I was so shocked when I went in a few weeks ago, to see it had gone up to 65p

I dont think they are doing much for their customers at all. I only shop there because its convenient for me, I have no trust in anything they do
  • I'v noticed some steep rises too. I only go in for reduced items (yellow stickers), special offers (eg buy several for a stupidly low price) and also the magazine; I look for competitions, recipes and MOCs. This applies to Asda and Sainsburys. If you're open minded as to what you eat, you can get all sorts; I got a whole hot chicken for 99p las night; that'll do me 5 meals at least. Scallops for 29p (Were £4.86), a bag of parsnips for 20p and a massive rhubarb crumble for 50p. Can't argue with that. :D
  • noticed Tesco also took their Chicken Tikka Masala off their 5 for £4 frozen meals, I used to always buy 5 at a time, booo!
  • Hi I work for the co op in retail logistics in the south east, The somerfield buy out wont even start to take place until after xmas and when it does it will take 18 months for total takeover approx.

I also used to think the co op were so expensive but check there offers due to bigger buying powere now do better offers than somerfield

I always buy Tesco value wholemeal bread - good value at 30p a loaf. Today, I see it's gone up to 40p - that a 25% increase! Then I go to buy my favourite chocolate Break biscuits, and they've also gone up from 74p to 88p - an increase of 19%.

What's going on here. With petrol/diesel prices going lower, I thought prices of supermarket goods were supposed to be coming down. How can Tesco justify these huge increases?

We often by the 'Calefornian Red wine' @£ 2.98 a bottle, however today it is £ 3.49. - I'm not being synical (I am really), but it is strange that as they have a discount of 25% for six bottles or more. Have they put the price up to compensate for the 25% discount?

Went in earlier on, and they have removed the "2 for £1.50" on their fruit juice drinks. It now costs normal price, at £1.84 for 2.

This was a long term promotion (years maybe), people start to run low on money, and Tesco have been ever so kind to increase the price on yet another range...

In a word, yes! I buy Claret and when i noticed that had gone up, i looked at some others i buy, and they have all just gone up.
    Britains biggest discounter my a**e.
Yes they may discount thousands of lines but all by 1 or 2p on unimportant items, then put up loads of stuff we are all buying and noticing, and the price rise is always double digits.
