MBNA to Virgin 0% transfer - possible?

Options
I currently have a 0% MBNA which expires next year.
Would I be allowed a 0% transfer to Virgin (either direct or via a third account)?
I suspect not as they are run by the same company.

So second question - how long would I have to wait after cancelling the MBNA card before applying for the Virgin? Could I do it straight away? 6 months?

Not part of the question but I suspect another thing that might stop the transfer between them is that the credit limit on MBNA is 25k and they probably wouldn't want 2 x 25k now. When I applied for the MBNA they said I had 25K for Virgin previously and they could give me the same without further checks.

Both are issued by MBNA. However do a transfer to your bank account then pay the other card off. I do this on a regular basis.

But would I be allowed a virgin while I have an MBNA?
    I've amended the question.

It's really about getting accepted for the Virgin card rather than how to do the transfer.

Apparently it's possible to hold five cards from the MBNA stable simultaneously, so you should be okay. (I'm sure Rodent will be a long in a moment to prove it!) In the recent past, I've certainly held Virgin and MBNA at the same time.

As you've got such a high CL on your existing card, I'd probably do the Virgin application over the phone so you can talk it through with the CSA and iron out any concerns they may have.

There is a maximum amount that MBNA will lend to any one individual at a time - I think it's more than 25K though. 35K springs to mind? I never can remember it, largely because I'm highly unlikely ever to be approaching it!

Thanks - comes as a bit of a surpreise.

Not surprised about the limit though.
My problem now is that the MBNA deal ends in March. Do I close this and get a Virgin so I can make use of the final few yearly term accounts and chance being refused or wiat until March and hope there are still offers around.

I'm usually pretty lucky with credit cards as opposed to mortgages - always cap/fix at the wrong time (looks at a 5 and a 10 year mortgage that I was feeling smug about just a few months ago).
