Fingerscrossed - your granny sounds just the sort for a Journal in a Jar...somewhere she could put all these thoughts and memories down so they never get lost or forgotten.
I thing the Journal Jars are a great idea. Unfortunately my granny has glaucoma so needs to read everything with a magnifying glass. I could do the prompts in a big font but think she would find the writing tricky with her sight!
When I was in my first year at high school I had to do a family tree project. For part of it we had to ask Journal Jar type questions to our grandparents. I am so glad I did it as I now have memories from all 4 of my grandparents and now I only have my granny left. There are always tears when I read it though....0 -
Sorry to hear about your granny's glaucoma but at least you've managed to glean some memories from her that are worth keeping.
My Mums in a care home and one of the optional activities was for residents to do a 'life story'..............my Mum loved it. She couldn't do it herself as she'd had a stroke so a carer asked the questions about different periods in her life and wrote down what Mum said. It makes such lovely reading and although Mum talked to me a lot about her childhood there was still a lot I never knew before................like when she first met my Dad...........he danced with her as a bet with his mates, after which he said she was the one he would marry..............lolMary

I've just 'borrowed' my Grans case of photos (which she's had stashed on top of a wardrobe for years) and am going to put everything into a nice new album for them, the current albums were the sticky type and have lost the stick so every time yo turn a page you lose the photos (prob why she never has them out!!!) So I've got a nice big 'slip-in' one so she won't lose the pics anymore. I am also going to get a chunk of the very old ones copied, enlarged, repaired etc.0
