eclipse bill after 17 months????

Can they do this after so long ? Is it legal? I changed provider in june 2007 but today got a bill for £60.02. The letter also said that previous correspondence was sent to this address. It wasn't !!! :p I rang their customer services who admitted that they even had my email address which I still use.
I had no comms from them since leaving. Do I have to pay?? It has been so long that I dont have any records now so can't dispute their dates.
Urgent advice please as they are going to call in a collection agency:eek::eek:

  • Just ignore it, they will soon go away when they realise you are not going to pay. I doubt the 'debt' is enforceable.

It may not be enforceable but its still a worry that I can do without as I am not in the best of health.--And if they do call a debt collector in will cost a packet and ruin my credit rating.---How can I find out for certain??;)

I've never had an ISP listed on my Credit Files.

what is the debt for? Have they sent you a breakdown?

If it is a debt, why would it not be enforceable? I believe they would have 6 years to chase payment. However I am not sure on whether there is a time period to invoice for payment.

If you owe it, perhaps you should pay it (you may choose to offer them £5 a week etc etc)

If you don't owe it, you can challenge it.
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

The bill is for allegedly terminating my contract early even though i am sure I did not.
I've asked my bank for copies of my statements for that period so I can check how many payments I made;) and I am going to write to eclipse and ask for a breakdown, but as I said in my post I dont have any paperwork so can't argue my case, But there must be a big problem with their accounts dept if it takes this long to contact me:eek:---and this really is the first time I have heard from them--Their internet service sucked which is why I got out, and obviously they haven't got any better.:rotfl:

That is really bad advice! Debts are enforceable for six years!
