Flight refunds???

Afternoon all, new member here!!

Quick question, I booked some flights many weeks ago to go to Dublin for me and a friend. Said friend has now been asked to go work abroad for his company for 5 weeks and can't come on the holiday. The website says no flights are refundable, is this legal? Also to change the name on a £20 flight would cost £80, does anyone know why it is so much? And lastly to call them costs a staggering £1 a minute and they provide no email address on the website, does anyone have an email address for Ryanair??

Thanks!

    For now ...

As long as the t&c's are not changed after booking, then it is legal to state that flights are not refundable. I trust you read the t&c's when booking?

It costs so much to change the name to stop people buying the flights cheap and then selling them on at a profit.

There are a few email addresses floating around for Ryanair, but emailing someone will not get you anywhere. You are not entitled to a refund.
    Gone ... or have I?

Yep, completely legal and above board.

You are able to get a refund of the tax though for unused flights, noone ever takes them up on it as the admin charge is either just less than the refund, the same or actually costs more than the tax portion.

There is always someone worse off, £20 aint a lot compared to my ex g/f who lost £265 for a flight she was going to take with me away for xmas.

She did the dumping so stumps the loss.

  • Hello New member, I'm fairly new to this myself. I don't really know much about Ryan Air apart from I don't like them much. I think there is a 50/50 split on those who like them and those who don't. From what I have read I doubt you'd get any money back from any airline to be honest but you can try I suppose. Hope you sort it out.
    Good luck

Asking on behalf of my mother.
She booked a Ryan air flight to Rome with a group of people a few months back. Unfortunately, since then, has been diagnosed with breast cancer (but is responding well to treatment :) ). Anyway, when trying to get travel insurance, the cheapest was over £300 just for 5 days, so now doesn't want to go on the holiday, also worried about being out of the country now in case her condition worsens (unlikely according to the consultant).

    1. Is it possible for her to change the flight to a uk one (e.g. stansted to scotland).

    2. If so, can she do this herself or is it the person who made the original group booking that has to do it.

    3. Also, if the uk flight is cheaper than the Rome flight (very likely as the Stansted to Rome return flight was £160  ) would she be able to use the difference to get additional ticket(s) for someone to travel with her?

    TIA
