smoking washing machine

have just done a load of washing, no problems through the wash, took the clothes out and i could smell and see smoke, it wasn't much and there was no heat coming from machine but now im worried about doing my next load. It can only be about a yr old but could it be limescale already?

I'd get your receipt out and give the retailer a call. Even if its just outside warranty I'd expect them to agree that being a potential fire risk is something that should be checked out free of charge.
  • sorry prob should have mentioned, its a rented property, i guess i should just ring landlord and get him to deal with it

Yup. Get on the phone asap and stress that you believe it could be a fire risk.
