Try a pad of kitchen roll and a very hot Iron. Place tissue over mark and apply heat, be careful of fingers! Wax should melt and soak into tissue.
    Good luck!

  • How about a blow torch, perhaps one of these one's that chefs use ? If it's stone it won't harm it and should burn away the wax.

You could try a hair dryer. If it's stone will it take scrubbing?

Try neat washing up liquid for the oil mark.

Try some talcum powder under tissue with the iron. Not 100% sure you will get it all out as it sounds like it is in deep.
    Good luck.

a similar thing happened to us, we stupidly left a candle on the fireplace and lit the fire and it melted, leaving a greasy mark as you describle in the stone - we didn't do anything and it disappeared of its own accord after a couple of months (with the fire lit most days) - the heat from the fire gradually made it evaporate
