I have a back bedroom which we don't use as it has no heating so is always very cold, even in summer. Now my daughter is getting older she would like her own room and so i need to turn this room into her bedroom.
I was thinking of buying a
Glen Skirting Heater to heat the room?
Can someone tell me what would be the cheapest thing to use
AS I have also seen Oil Filled Radiators and Convector Heaters?
What is the difference, Which one would be the cheapest to run?
Thankyou

not sure about oil filled but we use a convector heater for our loft room & only paid about £25 from argos. Would also suggest a heated blanket which you can get from anywhere & pay about £20 for a decent one.0

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. How is the rest of the house heated?

We use an oil filled radiator in a big room (for 2-3 hrs a day) and it heats the room very quickly and doesn't seem to cost too much to run.0

There is no cheapest -to- run electrical heater. They are all the same efficiency. The only thing that should influence your choice should be the ease and convenience of use, and the cost to purchase.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Any electric heater is going to be relatively expensive to run, so unless it's a very small room you may want to get a quote to have a proper radiator fitted. I did this myself many, many years ago, and it's not a particularly difficult job. There may well be regulations these days that mean you have to get a proper Corgi engineer to do it, but I still can't see it being that expensive, and it may well work out cheaper in the long run.0

If you go back over recent pricing data electricity on std rate is about 3.5 times more expensive that gas per Kwhr and on economy 7 its about 2.4 times more expensive. Obviously all electric Kwhr's that you pay for translate into room heating (there is no where else for the energy to go) while depending on your boiler efficiency only 70-90% of your bought gas Kwhrs end up heating the house - but regardless electricity on running costs alone is 1.6 to 2.5 times more expensive than gas. Therefore the questions you need to ask yourself are all about purchase and installation costs of the heater relative to the running cost - and it this space is really useful space how much will converting it into a well heated and comfortable environment add to the value of your house.0
