Can somebody tell me what the routing looks like for 01, 02 and 03 numbers?

I'm currently CPS with virgin for £9.99 ADSL but i get unlimited evening calls with BT so i want to 1280 them during the day but i can find the 01, 02 and 03 number routing or do i have to do them individually?

thanks

    I'm confused about what calls package you're on with BT because they don't do an unlimited evening (only) calls package.

    In any case, I don't understand why on earth you would want to use the 1280 prefix on your daytime calls!

    (1). Most people who use a CPS calls provider make sure they're on the cheapest BT package - which used to be BT Together Option 1 but which is now their Unlimited Weekend Plan.

    (2). The waters have been muddied though because, although the next package used to be BT Together Option 2 - which is now their Unlimited Evening & Weekend Plan, they're offering that free as long as you agree to a 'renewable' 12 month contract.

    I suspect you're on (1) in which case your four Routing Rules for local, 01, 02 and 03 calls should read:

    Day - 18185 (5p each regardless of duration);
    Evening - AOL;
    Weekend - BT ('qualifying' calls for free Caller Display and/or [if you must use it] basic 1571).
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Sorry i haven't given the correct info as you state,

    I wanted to use 1280 weekday evenings.

    I have BT together option 2 as you state, but i have CPS virgin media to get my BB.

    So it should be

    01, 02 and 03 calls

    Day 18185
    Evening BT
    Weekends BT

    thanks

    Yes, if Virgin (non-cable) still operate CPS. If they've changed to WCLI, the 1280 prefix won't work.

    Not necessarily. My daughter pays her line rental to BT and was on Sky Talk Unlimited CPS - but Sky changed to WCLI - so, although her line rental with BT includes their Unlimited Weekend calls plan, she cannot now use the 1280 code to make some calls via BT to qualify for free Caller Display.

    I am aware that AOL have recently changed from CPS to WCLI too but I do not know whether or not that is also the case with Virgin (non-cable) CPS.

    If you have 18185 as Carrier No.1 and 1280 CPS Override as Carrier No.3, your Routing Rules for geographical and '03' calls would be:

    1 *2*9 --Local 'L' ---- L 1 3 3
    2 01
    ---- National 'A'-- A 1 3 3
    3 02-
    --- National 'A' --A 1 3 3
    4 03-
    --- Allowed Call --A 1 3 3

    That means, of course, that you're not using your Virgin CPS package at all.
