Fair enough. One loses the nuances of human communication, typing this stuff out on the internet.

I was sorry for the guy that he somehow concluded that he was worthless because he was losing his possessions, but depression does that sort of thing to people - assuming it was depression. One of nature's cruel tricks is that people who are depressed become irritable, don't look after themselves, etc - all of which makes them harder to help, just at a time when they need help most.
