Try https://www.hotels.com
A lot will depend on whether there are any conventions etc there or whether it is a quite time for the hotels.
The food and drink is dirt cheap though in most of the strip hotels.
We stayed at the Sahara many moons ago just off the strip and it was great.
One point to consider is the size of these hotels - check in and out was a nightmare!!0 -

Before deciding, go to https://www.cheapovegas.com
You will find lots of help there.
Also do a google for a forum--Las Vegas talk. They are excellent.

Hi, I haven't used the Stratosphere before but I do know it is quite a long way from the main part of the 'Strip'. Of course, there is plenty of transport up and down if you don't fancy the walk, but you would miss so much. Try searching the web sites mentioned in other posts and do a price comparison. I think you'll find Vegas hotels prices extremely reasonable. Enjoy the 'experience' because thats what it is! Regards - Sallysaver0

The Strat would be down near the bottom of my list of Strip hotels to stay in. It's far from the main part of the Strip and the area around the hotel is a bit run-down. Mid-Strip hotels (a great location) that often have good prices are Flamingo and Bally's.
What are your dates and budget? If you let us know those then we may be able to find you a better deal.
There are a lot of promotion codes and deals available at:

Thanks in advance.0 -

I'm in a bit of a rush right now so haven't had chance to look properly but a couple of ideas spring to mind:
- How about the Tropicana? This comes in under your budget. I'd opt for the Island Tower rooms based on what I've heard (they are an extra $10 per night). The big plus with this hotel over the Strat is the better location.
- There are two expensive nights in your stay (Friday 13 and Saturday 14 - weekends are typically a lot more expensive). You could stay these two nights in a cheaper place (eg the Strat) and then move to a better place for the last three nights (eg I think Flamingo and Bally's and I'm sure most other places too have much cheaper rates for these nights). Obviously if you do not want to split your stay, this is a non-starter.
I'll try and take a closer look tomorrow (if I'm feeling up to it after tonight!).
I don't know if any of the codes in the link in my earlier e-mail have anything for you. I'm in Vegas at the start and end of my trip to that area in Feb and I managed to get 2 nights at MGM for $59pn and a night at Aladdin at the end of the trip for $59. My dates may well be cheaper though (they're both mid-week).
Good luck!0 -
Hi.
Try also https://www.priceline.com and name your price for the hotel, firstly checking out the price on expedia or hotels.com and offering something significantly less. For example, for Miami on Sun 8 Jan we have just booked a hotel via priceline.com for 75pounds which is on sale through hotels.com and expedia for around the 235 mark! Have used this time and time again with fantastic hotels. You just dont know which hotel until it has been confirmed and cannot cancel. But unbeatable prices! And FYI for the strip if you select 4 star hotels (which are well within your budget), most of these if not all will be in "StripCentral" as they now call it. Try to avoid the Strat or Circus Circus, they are too far out of the action and I agree you would spend half your time getting to and from StripCentral. Went to Aladddin in November for a dirt cheap price, v nice hotel. Hope this helps.0
