getting bills of disappeared flatmate

evening,

made the mistake of getting a friend to live in our house who had money problems, I have discovered this guy has the worst spending habits I know

seems like he has done a runner, he was always round his girlfriends house lately, but hes ignored countless emails, calls and text messages.

Im owed £116 and also got higher share of the bills for Dec and onwards until we find a replacement.

My landlords are aware of this, but really bills are no concern of them, they just need the rent.

question, whats a good way of legally claiming whats mine, with a minimum amount of hassle?

Jon

probably wouldnt bother if its only £116 quid
You want minimum hassle do nothing.

If you go to court and lose etc you could end up with court fees

Go round to his girlfriend's and break his legs. It won't save you any money, but the feel good factor will go on, and on, and on...

    :rotfl: made me chuckle

OP are you owed £116 because you have paid bills or are utility co's owed this money?

Personally I'd put this down to experience, advertise for a flat mate, as the LL is letting, ensure you interview the new flat mate and list the things they are responsible for. Probably put one utility bill in each name to protect you from future debts.

If you ever see this friend again remind him he owes you money.
