Hi guys.
I am setting up a website for our PTA using a template. I have got photos stored in "My Pictures" but when I try to upload them to the website, I get an error message that the photos are too big. To fit on the website the images must be JPG GIF or PNG format, smaller than 200kb with dimensions less than 1000 x 1000; 2048 pixels by 1536 pixels. How do I resize my photos so that the whole of the photo becomes smaller in proportion and then store it to then upload it to the website?
Thanks for your help

You need to open in it a photo editor, resize the image and save it.
Microsoft paint will do it.
Right click on image, select "open with pain".
Click on "Image menu", select "Stretch and Skew" and put the percentage reduction factor you want.Happy chappy0 -
On most editing software their is an "image resize" option on the tool bar at the top.
What are you using - if any?
EDIT Beat me to it toms0 -

I use Irfanview - free program
www.irfanview.com
Once downloaded and installed:
Image, Resize, Half, Half .... as many times until it reaches the size you want.
File, Save as, .... choose type of picture file, Suitable filename, Save.
A well respected progam I've used for years.0 -
This is the program I use to do resizing photos with, Faststone - http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm
One good tip I have found - if the photo is the size you want but it is still too big in KB, resize it and save as a BMP, then resize the BMP and save as a JPG.
I dont know if this works using programs other than Faststone.0 -
If your using windows XP try Microsoft's own "plugin" for resizing photos.
Its called image resizer powertoy and available here... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Once installed it adds an extra menu called "resize image" when you right-click on a image or multiple image in file explorer.
It doesnt get any easier than this. I use it every day.
Thanks.0 -
I'll second Faststone - cracking little program0

why not upload to a 3rd party server (www.imagevenue.com etc, and post the resulting code onto the page?
2nd coding option after loading there seems best- you can get a thumbnail, and clickthrough link to full size pic.
here's one i 'made earlier'.. cue gallery music..Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I'll third Faststone!Charlie0
