2006,some thoughts

As we head towards 2006, I thought id put a few words on here, you are all welcome to post your thoughts.

I do like to trade stocks short term, and this has sometimes worked to my advantage. But my feeling for 2006 are to hold stocks, as looking back on my portfoilio, I picked a fair few big winners, but failed to hold for long enough and so failed to benefit from as much upside as I would have.

So my Moto for 2006 is Research, Believe (in the company, management), Buy, and Hold. (RBBH)

Happy New Year

My thinking is the opposite, I had barely sold anything for the last 2 years until early November..

Now I'm thinking of trading more than investing key parts of the portfolio for much of 2006, especially the oils and mining, well okay what I am really considering is using spread betting to short stocks I own so I don't have to liquidate and buy back later... with marginal advantage to the down side.

Still strongly invested overseas... eventhough they have had a big run such as India... so may correct to the 200 day moving average... but thats a long, long-term play.

    What else ?

I think which sector your invested in will be very important during 2006... I don't think the FTSE will budge much, but 'some' sectors will budge a lot... I am still inclined to the mining sector, the oils is likely to be UP early, down hard to middle / late and up strong late... well thats my guess...

    What other sectors ?

Banks seem to be perking up ? But they have done that a number of times already and then flopped.

to be honest i feel the banks are near some of there highest levels !! although i do think there will be a surge in prices when a base rate cut happens.

i think oils will stay at the current prices theres just not enough around and with russia forcing people to buy or cry the oil price can only go up i think but they have had a good year there might not be much on them left to go.

me this year im going back into india and im going to try my hand at the russia sector and egypt aswell there is an egypt trust by lizzard that has done rather well as of late

Please help stop israels illegal occuaption by boycotting the companies that support it M+S, Caterpillar, Starbucks etc

I note that the Dubai and Cairo Stock mrakets more than doubled in value in 2005, and that the Japanese stock exchange is up more than 42%. yes 2006 will be a good year for India, and Russia.:j
