Wireless Broadband

Options
Hi All

Would anybody have any advice about going wireless by that I mean good speed, downloads etc but also keenly priced. I am currently thinking about going with BT as phone line is with them. My kids want to use XBox live and I dont fancy tripping over cables all evening.

  • Depending on where you are you may well find that O2 is your cheapest and fastest option. If you have an O2 mobile you can get up to 8MB for £7.50 a month or up to 16MB for £10. You get an O2 wireless router included.

I've recently changed from BT to O2. I get much faster speeds, particularly in the evening when BT's network can slow to a crawl. It was a painless process>

Either O2 or Sky supply a wireless router, UTV Internet do too on some of their packages but their service isn't great.

  • Dont do it! See my thread about BT, im having a nightmare with them and thier broadband service for wireless use. It is the biggest mistake I have made(well this year anyway!) Its useless!
  • We use virgin but if you phone with a problem they 'don't support wireless broadband'. And their customer service is terrible.
  • we are with sky and have no trouble at all.

  • I switched to Sky a few months ago, works well and I saved a few pound, I was with orange paying £17.99 a month, by switching to a complete new sky package with wireless broadband (£5 per month for 8MB) , a new phone package and Sky + I save about £20 per month
  • Plus.net could be worth a look. They have broadband packages for £10 a month or broadband and phone for £17 a month. I use them both at home and at work. I've only had to use their customer service once, but it was fantastic.

I'd recommend plusnet as well. Been with them for about 4 years now (ick). Have never had a problem with them. I've rung the customer services for information and found them very helpful. The IT guy I used to work with recommended them initially to me and I asked him recently if there was anyone else he would now suggest and he said he'd still say plusnet. I've just signed up a friend of mine this week and waiting for all the debits and connections to be set up. Prices are good too.

If you have Sky TV go for 1 of their packages.

If not O2 is your best option. Free Wireless router. Easy setup. Fast Speeds. Unlimited downloads for 12.50 a month, so no worries of extra costs if you download a lot of stuff. & its a fiver less if you have an o2 mobile.
& 60 quid from quidco if you get it via their site.
