Hi peeps :hello:

The battery in my Vauxhall car key requires replacing, I had it changed at the dealership previously which I’m sure cost me a fortune   anyone know how much it costs at the dealership nowadays, also, do I have to use a dealership or can anyone suggest an alterative solution?

Thanks ;)

    You can change it yourself.

On mine if it stops working after the change you just sit inside the car and lock it, and it re-syncs.

I'm frightened of the alarm going off, oh, are they standard batteries like a watch?

My vectra key takes a CR2032 I use them for other things too, and usually buy ten or more at a time from ebay for a quid or two. Any Poundshop or electric market stall should have them for a pound or less in my experience. I *guess* a dealer is going to charge you a fiver, but I've never had vauxhall change one unless it was included in a the price of a service.

The last time I changed the battery, I’m certain I paid something around £50.00 at the dealership as they said the car had to be programmed

One of the service kits (plugs, oil filter, o ring, air filter etc) for Vauxhalls comes with a set of 2 batteries included for each key fob. 99% of people don't present both keys to the stealer for battery changes as part of the fixed price menu servicing. Otherwise the biggest selection of button batteries seems to be Boots or Wilkinsons and sometimes available in Poundland.
