I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the obvious - if it was sent recorded, you have a tracking number - go onto the Royal Mail website and check whether it has actually been delivered.0

sorry just realised I should have said Next day recorded - would this give higher insurance?
Pinkgem I don't know if its eligible for protection, will try and find out.
Thanks baby's Mum but its been more than 12 hrs.
It seems more positive than i thought now. Don't they do other scams though - not just damaged/not received? Then she couldn't claim via royal mail!
Thanks
I would be concerned here though that the paypal notification is a fake, has your friend actually checked this in her paypal account and cleared balance?
I also agree with the others, this just 'feels' like a scam, the wording, the English the 'has it been posted yet' all ring serious alarm bells for me.
AS for postage used, you say 'next day recorded' which does not exist. It was either recorded delivery which, as has been said , only covers losses up to £36 and is not a guaranteed service or special delivery which is guaranteed for next day delivery and would have adequate insurance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OMG!!
My friend (yes, really!) has sold and sent a c. £200 phone to a 0 bidder - she has sent it to an address in London.
Today, she showed me an email saying 'why no send it to me?'(being the tracking number for the delivery i think). As soon as I saw the poor english I said don't reply assuming it was a scammer and that she hadn't yet sold the phone. To my horror she then said she had already received the paypal payment and sent the phone first class recorded today. I don't know if the address was confirmed.
This has to be a scam, right? Any advice? I don't know her that well and she was a bit tetchy when I said it didn't look good, so i'll struggle to find out much more info!? she didn't even record the IMEI number!! But she's stressed at the mo so i'd like to know what to do should the worst happen
Agggggghhhhhhh......
Thanks, any help appreciated guys (I don't know how scams work, but just have been on this site too long to think this is going to be lar-de-dah!)

She does need to check the money is really in her Paypal account by NOT clicking on a link from an email but logging in herself and checking it is confirmed not pending.0 -

What's your postcode ? I'll get my mate to check you against his list.0 -
just thought i'd update to say it was a scam!
Fake paypal or something like that. Its such a shame. She's a clever girl, but just new to ebay so a bit naive. Still I suppose thats how scams work!
Paypal, ebay and police don't want to know!
thanks for the help

So she sent the phone before she received payment? Didn't she check her PayPal account before sending the item? And what of the tracking number? Did you check to see if it arrived? We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

From what my friend has told me, to her it looked as thought the payment had been received by paypal. She sent the phone when she started the transfer of funds from paypal to her account. Paypal then reversed/stopped the transfer. I an only think that she clicked the links thereby seeing fake payments, or the funds may have been from a stolen credit card?!
I believe the phone has arrived at the address she sent it to. No wonder they wanted it sent next day. Oh well.. she will live and learn!
