Honestly? :o I was so shocked that she had actually said that as opposed to "On this occasion I am unable to help you" I didn't say anything I was utterly speechless :o Went home and cried lol (being 8 months pregnant with 24 hour "morning sickness" and raging hormones) was the cure for most things.

Putting myself in a bank managers shoes I could see where she was coming from, however there are ways of treating people and getting your point across without being quite so blunt.

Anyway I think now that we have "grown up" (I was 20 at the time) I probably am the sort of customer they want but I expect a certain level of service they are unable to provide ;)
  • Yeah I dont think much of what i've seen of lloyds.

I've had my main current account with Lloyds/LTSB for over 26 years & I have had very few problems with them during that time. Their online banking is excellent. I use a small local branch when necessary & the service is good but the queue does get a bit long at times.
  • I have been with clydedale for nearly 20 years and never had issues with them. i would not change banks and my local branch and contact centre staff are always excellent.
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.
  • I have also been very impressed with Yorkshire (Clydesdale) Bank. I'd do so far to say they're the best bank i've ever been with - though I must admit I only have experience of one other really (HSBC).
  • I've been with Clydesdale for over 15 years and they've generally been really good. Only outstanding issue is a disputed ATM - but branch staff are being very helpful.
  • I have had an account with Yorkshire for 20 years. I'm not actually a loyal customer this was more through apathy really.

If your in the north then there are lots of brances but here in london just 1 or 2 so thats obviously a factor. I have to say that i do like their internet banking as it is a very clear and simple format. You can change the nicknames on your account with YB which i always find really useful.

I have a first direct account which in my experience is by far the best service bank out there and the only reason i got one was because they offered £100 to do so.

Having said that i have had two bad experiences with YB whereby it took 6 weeks to recieve a replacement cash card. Luckily i had another account i could use.

If its a savings account your after and you have under 50K then i would probably go with the highest interest paid really. Although be careful there have been some questions about the stability of ICICI bank.

    Hope this helps
  • I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole,my wife used to have an account with them and had nothing but bother. We set up a Nationwide flex account for her and she is very happy with it.
    Another to avoid is Abbey
I have a deep burning indifference
