HELP on searching

Hello folks,
I hope you can help me. Please don’t shout at me, I already know that I’m a dummy!

I have been looking for hours, for a post that I read some time ago.
I have found a related post, which is on the Anything else board, which has a link to the original post [I hope] but this link is not working, I made a note of the links number-1095716013 to the I Wanna board. I then went to the I wanna board to try to find the link, only to find that the numbers do not run in order.

I have tried to search by entering key words at the top of the screen, that won’t let me go far back enough. Tried by author [I think wrote the post I’m looking for] His last 50 posts - he had only written 57 so I thought I had a good chance here- that didn’t work either. Then I tried the lower search, still no joy.

O.K. What have I done wrong? Words of one syllable please. The post is about cable TV in and around your house, without subscribing to the cable company for another box. If I remember correctly the original post refers to an item that had been offered to the poster for under £5. But then it goes on to give information as to how you can do this yourself, without the need to buy, and with better results.

I know people on these boards can get a bit tetchy about stupid questions, in fact if I thought it wouldn’t have been moved I would have posed this question to the Money making old style board, where everyone is so kind.

But I did try before seeking your help.

If you looked up the post using the author and didn't find it, maybe it has been removed for some reason?

No it's not that, the search is not working - I tried it on my own name too

Rather than using the search box at the top of the screen, try the search next to the magnifying glass icon above (just above the orange bar). This means you can change the options

You could also try using google to search the site by including site:moneysavingexpert.com with other words you are searching for

Thanks, I did all that, [not the goggle one yet] I think there has been a fix, as today the searches are working.

But the thread that I'm looking for has a link for it on the Anything else board-

It could be the changes that Martin & crew have been making - try again.
