Nationwide credit card

Options
I understand you can claim an extra free warranty for electrical goods if you use your nw credit card. Has anybody done this before, and do electrical goods include computer and MP3 player. Thanks

I've just found the Extended Warranty Policy Document dated Jan 2004.

The items that can be covered seem to be:

    TV (up to 39inch)
    Plasma Screen
    Video Recorder
    DVD Player
    TV / Video Combi
    Satellite / Digital decoder
    Hifi (inc separates)
    Camcorders
    Digital Cameras up to £1000
    DVD / VCR Combi
    TV / DVD Combi
    Washer Dryer
    Washing Machine
    Tumble Dryer
    Spin Dryer
    Dishwasher
    Cooker (inc Dual Fuel)
    Oven
    Hob
    Fridge
    Fridge Freezer
    Freezer
    Microwave
    Vacuum Cleaner
    De-Humidifier

Might be worth phoning them as MP3 players might have been added since Jan 2004.

From my recent experience I want to add that they don't cover anything containing hard drive, including Personal Video Recorders (PVRs). If I new this, I'd have paid by a cashback card instead of the Nationwide one ...

I think HSBC offer cover but don't know the details. It might just be on their 'Premier' cards though.

I wonder what happens with Xbox 360s? Are Core users provided with a warranty while Premium purchasers are left out in the cold?

Well I think Xbox comes under games console, which I don't think is covered. Unless you argue its a dvd player.
