Will this damage my credit rating?

I couldn't find where I should post this so appologies if this is the wrong place. It relates to my plans to get a mortgage in the not too distant future so I thought this forum may be relevant.

I am very careful to guard my credit rating esp in the current climate. I recently got a new mobile phone with o2 over the internet.

The company I got it from gave the wrong bank details to o2. I noticed when viewing my details online, and called o2 2 days before the direct debit was due to go out and changed the details to the correct ones. The chap I spoke to said this wouldn't cause any problems. I guess I should have checked that the payment went out but have been v busy. It didn't and as a result outgoing call barring was put on today.

I called up and paid by a debit card and expressed my corncern at being given incorrect info. The lady assured me that this episode won't affect my credit rating in any way. She said as I hadn't been fully cut off it didn't matter.

Is this correct? How come a late credit card payment would affect it? Is it not the same thing? It is too early to check atm. Am I just being parnoid?

I have searched using google and it seems to suggest it will be affected. o2 were adamant it wouldn't tho.

guess i will leave it a month or so and check. anyone know which agency o2 use?

Phone bills don't have a lot to do with buying and selling houses

There is a phones board here too. I'd post on that perhaps.

As youd only just set it up, they expect blips - you didnt receive any warning letters or anything did you? Im sure you dont need to worry If you are concerned to can get a freebie check on experian.

K. Will give the phone board a go.

They said they sent a text on 14th (don't send letters anymore) but I did not get one. I did use a pac code to move my number so I don't know if that interfered somehow.
