Does Ikea normally have a christmas/new year sale?

There are some bits we want to order from Ikea online, but I don't want to do it and then find out they are having a sale in a month's time or so!

Does anyone know if they are likely to have a Christmas or New Year sale? Have they done so before?

Thanks

  • Yes they do!

It usually starts Boxing Day and for a lot of people it is the highlight of Christmas! They start queing in the early hours of the morning and its like a party! Not for the likes of me, by Christmas day I do not want to see another shop for weeks but for some its a really sociable fun thing to do!

Ooh, thank you yummy mummy and milk. Forgot to say - with two babies under two (well, even without them) my idea of hell is queuing in the sale at Ikea - is the sale online too?

The sale in ikea is normally stuff that they can't get rid or stock which is being discontinued and proberbly won't include alot of the stuff that you have picked out online. This is because their store catalouge runs from august to july.

  • Shopping in IKEA is so unpleasant (although annoyingly you've got to go as there are bits and pieces you can only get there!) that I won't go at a weekend and only go on a weekday when I'm on leave. As I've got a bit of a list, I've had the bright idea of going on the day before the sale this week. On the basis that a) there is nothing I want enough to put myself through the scrum of the sale b) none of the things I want are likely to be in the sale and c) it might, just possibly be a bit more quiet the day before the sale.

Of course what will actually happen is that it will be as busy as ever and everything I want will be out of stock so, as usual, I'll come out feeling ready to kill someone, anyone!
