Although like any credit card you'll be hit for cash advances. If you also start a NW current account (flex account) then you could use the ATM card to get your cash out of that for free. If you have the spare cash of course.
  • Thanks for the advice,

  • In principle this is the best card to use, however in practise I had nothing but trouble with it. I have held one for about 5 years now and always used it ok in UK.

In July I went to Thailand & Malaysia for 5 weeks. I would use my N/wide credit card to pay, no probs. Next time I would come to use it it would be rejected. I would call them up and they would tell me that my pin had been entered incorrectly 3 times and thus blocked. Was told to take card to cash machine, enter correct pin and view available balance and this would unblock it. Correct it unblocked it so I would pay on it, again no probs. Next time I went to use it it would be blocked, so I phone them and go through the same stuff. I could only use it once after unlocking before it would get locked again.

I told them I hadn't entered my pin wrong once never mind 3 times and they just would not accept this. In thailand they don't even have chip & pin!!!

After going through this on a few occasions I gave up and just used my AMEX or &more card, even though it would cost more it was easier.

Fortuantly for me I had other cards at my disposal. Of course I might of just been completely unlucky but its worth having something else as a backup.
