DVD recorder does it timer record?

Hello everybody
I purchased a DVD recorder. Isn't that great?!!!!
However, I'm facing a problem now and as my DVD recorders knowledge is very limited, I'm seeking your help please. I couldn't do timer recording. I know how to do it using the aerial. However, as I have the sky, the recorder is connected to the receiver by a scart. I tried to timer the dvd to record from a channel while I'm watching a different one, but that didn't work. I always end up with a record of the channel that I'm watching rather than the one that I want to record from. I searched the operators manual and read it all, but it has no clues of how to do it using the scart connection. It only explains how to timer record using the aerial.
Can anybody help please.
Many thanks

it should have an option to change the input so instead of putting in channel 1 etc choose av1 or av2 etc.
whats the make and model number0 -
Yes thats right, you choose the input option. I can view all the channels when the DVD recorder is on, there is no problem with that. I only choose the input AV2 and select the channel I want to record from and press record, and it records without any problem. I can even timer record while the TV is off, but then before switching it off I have to select the channel that I want to record from. My problem now is how to timer record from one channel while watching another one (i.e. there is a match that I want to watch, but also I don't want to miss the series of a documentary program that I've been following for many days). The operators manual only explains how to timer record from an aerial. This is done by tuning all the channels in the DVD recorder. This is can easily be done as it is explained in the operators manual. However, it does not explain how to tune the channels using the scart nor it explains how to timer record directly from the receiver (if that is possible).
I hope I made it clearer now.0 -
Hi
Can you tell us which dvd recorder is it, model, etc0 -
gizmoleeds wrote:If you are trying to record one Sky channel while watching another then I'm afraid you can't do that, as the Sky box will only output one channel at a time.
You can only record Sky and watch a terrestrial channel, or record terrestrial and watch Sky.
are there any way to solve this problem as I need to do it quite often?0 -

you need sky+0 -
also depends if you are meaning you want to watch/record 2 Sky channels or 1 sky channel/1 terrestrial channel, the latter is possible, the former isn't0

Hi
Found this: "It can use Videoplus to set up a timer recording, or you can use a simple menu system for manual timer recording. One touch record on the remote allows you to record until you press stop, or extra touches of the record button allow you to set a timer in 30 min increments.
And like the other posters are saying, you cannot watch one sky program and record another sky program, if you have the normal sky box.
You either need a PVR or Sky+0 -
or 2 tellys0

Thanks for you all for your help.0
