switch instructors theres plenty out there this happened to a neighbour of mine, i was giving him lessons on privately owned land before he was 17 so was pretty skilled,
the instructor he chose when he turned 17 seemed ok, told him he will pass his test within 2-3 months, after about 5 lessons the instructor didnt want to know him anymore obviously aware he didnt need many lessons due my instruction on the weekends so couldnt prolong the learning process, however he is with my old instructor who was brill with me and is brill with himSealed pot challenger # 10

He sounds like my old driving instructor, his wife was an alcoholic and used to ring him on lessons ect ect because she was drunk. I failed 2 tests with him because he wasn't doing his job properly so after i failed my second test within a hour i had booked a new one and got a new instructor i passed with him 6 weeks later.
Perhaps its worth you changing to someone else?

Get a new one. Never book a block of more than 5 or so lessons. Years ago my wife's first instructor used to nip home during every lesson for some reason or another and he used lesson time to refuel the car. Both were taking the micky. She sacked him and found someone reliable.
Ask your current instructor for a refund. If he won't give it a small claims demand may cause him to change his ways. You are also an advert for the business. If others are learning ward them off the company.
Answering calls during a lesson is also an offence. As an instructor he is also deemed to be the driver so must not do something whilst sat in the passenger seat which is an offence whilst driving - he may as well be teaching you while drunk.
If he is part of a larger company complain to head office and a complain to DSA (Driving Standards Agency). He has to have check tests every few years, fail this and he loses his job. Bad reports aren't a good start for him.0 -
Daveyjp is correct.
The laws regarding driving while on a mobile also apply to driving instructors on a lesson with a learner driver.
If it was a handheld mobile then the instructor was breaking the law. If hands-free then just stupid.
Sack them. Get a decent ADI.
(No, learners aren't allowed on motorways, but should have sessions on dual carraigeways before their test and sessions after test to familiarise themselves with motorways.)0
