    Hiya Amber

I'm getting confused here. Is this a different car from the one which the bailiffs were going to take away because you hadn't paid one of the fines you got on the day your husband left you three years ago?

I'm guessing it must be, because you said the bailiffs couldn't take that one because the finance was in your husband's name, and the car was his, even though it was registered to you at the time the bailiffs came.

If it's the same car, and the finance is in your husband's name, and the car is his, shouldn't you just be telling Ford that it's not your debt?

As someone else has said, it might help if you posted up an SOA, because you seem to have a number of different debts (I think there was a mobile phone one too) which your creditors are really putting you under pressure about right now. Seeing all the information in one place would probably help people give you the right advice.

    Take care.

    Hiya again

Thanks for the explanation  It makes a bit more sense to me now.

It still sounds like you should be telling Ford that it's not YOUR debt, even if you did make some payments to it after your marriage broke up (you're a better woman than I am - I'd have been tempted to let him pay it himself after he walked out on me! :o ). If your husband's name is on the finance, and it's his car, then they should be chasing HIM.

I know that doesn't sound like the best way to keep the two of you on good terms! But from the debt point of view, it's a good point to make to them. You don't necessarily have to tell them who the debt actually belongs to (they should be able to see that from the paperwork - and if they dont have the paperwork, then they need to get it, don't they? ;) ). And you don't need to tell them where to find the person whose name is on the finance...
