Mis-sold warranty
A mate of mine bought an Audi over a year ago and was sold what he believed to be an extension of the manufacturer's warranty.
A couple of months ago the car "broke" and he discovered that the warranty didn't cover the repair because it was the dealership's own plan. The repair bill amounted to £1500!
He complained to the dealership but they claimed that they don't offer Audi's warranty because they believe it to be expensive.
My mate reckons that a choice of warranties should have been made available at point of sale - either the one he was sold, or the manufacturer's.
He feels that he's not getting anywhere with his complaint, but who can he take his grievance to if the dealership reckon he should have queried the plan at the time he bought it?
Thanks for any assistance from someone experienced in this field.

Caveat Emptor. He should have looked at what the warranty covered and what exclusions there were, even a manufacturers one.0

Thanks for your reply, Conor.
I expect there are many of us that sign up for things without reading the full T&Cs, and my mate is probably the worst! He just assumed without checking.
Regardless of his culpability is there some higher authority to whom he could take his complaint if he still feels hard done by?

Trading Standards and the trade bodies are worse than useless. Might be worth having a free session with a solicitor but that's about it.0
