Cash machine did not pay out and they will not refund me HELP

  • apparently no one is allowed to have a CCTV machine pointing towards a cash machine in case they could see your pin number - that is what Nationwide told me.

They also told you that Halifax had CCTV for just vandalism.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

I have now managed to get my money back!!. After speaking to my legal adviser( free with my home insurance) I was advised to make a formal complaint to both Nationwide (cash machine used) and Halifax (the account used). I made an appointment to see the manager of the Nationwide branch where the transaction was made. I explained that I had taken legal advice and would take the matter as far as I could. She was a lovely lady and spent a lot of time arguing with the ATM department on the phone on my behalf. At the end of the day they decided to refund me as a gesture of good will, only because I have been a nationwide customer for about 25years. Had I not had an account with them, I do not think I would have got the money back. I would now only use the cash machine relating to the card I was using. Thanks for all your advice.

I had the same from a Tesco RBS atm - neither lloyds my account holder, tesco or rbs were willing to help and my situation was exactly the same as yours with the machine balancing. My loss is £90 but this must add up to millions each year.

Well done on getting your refund though.
