How do I get my new computer as cheap as possible

Right here goes. I am not a techy person ( I tried to post this last night and its disappeared so shows how useless I am).
I need ot upgrade computer and went to Evesham yesterday. Our original one is from there but to say they were unhelpful would be a minor understatement and I begrudge giving them £1300 of hard earned dosh for no service whatsoever. I have looked on Mesh and Dell for the same spec and Dell was more, Mesh was £1100. How do I find the best place for both servce afterwards in case of problems and also price? We need a computer for a teenager, a husband who loves musics and does a lot of CD burning and will probably get an MP3 as well and I use it for loads of emails and office work for my buisness.
This is the Evesham Spec - we need something that will last as this one weve had for 6 years - we hopeless at updating things:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor 3800+
Micorsoft XP Pro
NVIDIA nForce 4 PCI-E SLi mainboard with firewire
1GB dual channel DDR RAM (PC3200) 400 Mhz (2x512MB)
200 GB SATA Hard Drive with 8MB Buffer
256 MB DDR ATI Radeon x700 PCI- express graphics with TV out and DVI
19" Viewsonic VX912(black/silver) DVI TFT
Multi format dual layer DVD-RW (16x) / cd-rw (40x) drive
16x DVD drive
7.1 channel surround sound on board
Creative I-Trigue 3220 2.1 speakers
Logitech Internet pro cordless desktop
v92 56K internet ready modem
CD/DVD creation software, video editing and DVD palyback software
3 year service at home
Floppy disk drive with 7 - in 1 - card reader
Now on top of the cost we also need to buy Microsoft Student package for Word, Excel and Powerpoint so were looking at heaps of dosh. We need to be ableo t plug and play it as we are not techy and tend ot stare at the screen for hours when it doesnt work !
Any ideas where else to look apart from Mesh for this spec cheaper but who is very reliable would be gratefully received.
Many thanks indeed

ok, you want the 3 years at home service?
if so you may be better going for a company like the ones you mention, however if you dont go for that sort of cover, is there noone at work or a friend or family who will help you out if things get THAT bad?
i have son to put to bed , im sure others will find some great deals but i will see what i can find in 40 mins.what is the plural of moose?

You aren't going to beat Evesham for service and reliability and peace of mind with the 3 yr onsite warranty. That's exactly what I'm sat in front of now, 18months old. I'm thinking that the bad sales person you saw was in one of their stores, but don't let that put you off. If you can't get to Evesham head office then ring them and explain your problem. You'll be glad you did in the long run.
I'm on my 3rd Evesham + 1 for wife and one for son and my daughter is still using my last one.0 -
