Can I use monitor and printer from old XP with new Vista PC?

I have vouchers to purchase a new PC, all choices are running Windows Vista Premium.
Do I need to buy a new monitor and printer or can I use my existing ones without installing XP on the new PC?
Sorry if I seem green.

Monitor for sure. For the printer we need the model number.0

Printer is a Brother DPC- 120C.
I can afford a new printer if necessary.0 -
Your printer is supported and if Vista doesn't detect the printer automactically download drivers from
http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/eu/eu_ot/en/dlf/download_index.html?reg=eu&c=eu_ot&lang=en&prod=dcp120c_eu_as&type2=1&os=74&flang=English&dlid=Mortgage when started: £127,500
Current mortgage Jan2016: £127500
Mortgage free day: Dec 2022
OverPaid so far; £00 -
The only thing really you would need to do, would be to have a look on the Brother web site for updated drivers for the printer. XP>Vista was a hard change on peripherals, and they generally needed a brand new driver to be compatible with Vista
Looking at the microsoft site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=DCP-120C&v=Brother&uid=&pf=4&pi=3&c=printers%20%26%20scanners&sc=multifunction&os=32-bit, it looks like your DCP 120C works with Vista and just needs the new drivers. Which is a nice result, save that money for something else :beer:There are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
Those that do
Those that dont

Many thanks for your quick responses and valuable information.
I'm off to PC World ( sadly I have no option) to use vouchers for a new PC
AlienRiK suggested this one , so I'm off to pick one up.

What monitor is it? you may be best looking for a Vista driver although not essential for your monitor so it runs at the correct resolution and colour management/icc profile0

This is it when you go from XP to Vista ... some things work and some things don't, costs a fortune. Damn that Bill Gates. :rolleyes:0

Well, if I do ultimately have to purchase a new monitor, I won't be buying it from PC World!!!!!0
