Immersion heater
I used to live in a 1 bedroom flat (working couple) and my electricity bills were around £75-80 a month. We had no gas then, just electricity. Does this sound high? Some of my colleagues thought so (its supposed to be around £20-30?) The flat was very well insulated and so I need not switch on the heating all winter, in fact the storage heaters were not working so I switched the mains off. The whole flat was switched to energy saving bulbs and we were very conservative with our energy usage. The only thing however was the immersion heater, which we switched on constantly (we were told by the agent not to switch it on and off all the time). I'm just wondering whether this was the cause of the high energy usage.
Right now, we're staying in a different flat which has gas and electricity. I've a boiler (this rectangular shaped thing) which we place on timer but also this huge drum like thing (pretty much looks like the immersion heater we had). The agent (same one) said that this is a water storage tank but there's a sticker on it which states water heater - 3KW. Do I need to switch this on constantly like the other flat? Can it just store hot water without being switched on? or should I use this as opposed to the boiler? We've left it off for the last month and we've used about 250 KW for the month.
Also, what should our electricity and gas bill be like (a ball park figure will do), we're now in a 2 bed flat (still only working couple living there), all bulbs are energy saving, we shower once a day and the central heating comes on for 2 hours in the morning and 4 hours at night, occasionally we cook at home, no tumble drying, dishwasher one every 2 days.
Thanks v. much. Sorry for the ignorance
used to come from a place where heating is not required.

Cheaper to use gas to heat your tank of hot water. Do you have a programmer to set times for your heating and hot water?0

I live on my own in a 2 bed through terrace .
Immersion on all the time my electric use is around 9kwh per day or £25 a month.
Immersion only on when required is around 7kwh a day or £20 a month.
Hope this helps
