Hi, Since reading Martin's tip :money: about the Sony amex card I've been saving for the above.
I've now got enough points for the Sony Walkman mp3 8gb nw-za818b player. :j
However I'm now wandering if this is an inferior product to the i-pod shuffle and perhaps I should go for the i-pod instead.
Is there anyone out there with enough knowledge of these products to advise which I should go for.
Any help will be very greatfully received. :T :T :T
Cheers, ktj.

No experience of the sony a series players though they are rated on C Net. Link here . I have just got a Sony NWZS638 8Gb player which I prefer to the ipod Nano in all but style. After trying the nano I prefer the sound quality of the S638 and it can play unprotected AAC files from itunes and view BBC iplayer video as well. Drag and drop files as well now so no need to use the Sony software.
A plus for the ipod is that accessories are easy to get hold of.
The ipod shuffle is a much smaller player, without a screen, so choosing what to listen to is more difficult and you won't be able to view pics/videos on it either.
Hope this helps.0 -
I think that it is generally accepted that Sony are superior to iPods for sound quality, I have had both (iPhone atm), but the range of accessories is much better for iPods
As Hotspur has mentioned, the shuffle has no screen, so you can not see any song details, and so if you are looking for a specific track you will have to flip through them all, so on that basis, an iPod nano would be a better decision (if the budget supports it)
If you are not interested in after market things, then I would certainly say go for the Sony. Then save for a GOOD set of headphones next, they make the experience go to another level
Good luck in your choice, I honestly think that you can not make a bad decision on these two models. Let us know what you decide and what you thinkThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary
