I give up !

 I've searched, read, thought and I still can't figure out how to copy a piece of text from a post and paste it into my reply. I think the bleach has at last reached my brain
I'd be grateful for some advice from someone - anyone - telling me in the simplest possible terms how to do it, and if I have to faff around with my CP please include instructions for that too.
First MSE'er to post a reply gets a  next time I see them !

Select the text you want to copy. Press ctrl and c at the same time then click in your message where you want to paste, and press ctrl and v at the same time.

ctrl v or ctrl c is just the keyboard shortcut for right clicking and selecting copy/paste. You can use either/or. Not both together.

I think you're holding them down too long. This used to happen to me too.

Don't forget you can (and should) put the Original Poster's name in the Quote if referencing a post on the forum.

    To do so, type the usual quote tag, ([ q u o t e] - without the spaces) but put an equals = before the closing ]. Then type the original poster's name and type the ]. (It would look like [ q u o t e = u s e r n a m e ] without the spaces) When you post it will appear as:

If you do this, other forum users can see which user's post you are referencing easier.

You can also do quotes within quotes:
    This is a quote.

    Just type the

If I have confused you, I apologise. Post back if you have any questions. :)

That's probably why. Only needs to be held down for the same time you press a key when typing a message. ;)
  • Thanks TM- by the time I've done all that I'll have lost the will to post;)
