The plan to bounce us into the Euro gathers pace!

"As the pound struggles to hold its own against other major currencies, the president of the European Central Bank says Britain is "welcome at any time" to join the euro.

"There are a lot of advantages associated with the completion of the single market - you are not in an achieved single market as long as there are different currencies."

The euro is enjoying much more stability and strength than sterling - the pound has been devalued by 15% against the euro in the past six months - reviving suggestions that the UK might be better off inside the European single currency."

Well, it's now clear as a bell that the usual suspects inside the corrupt Labour cabal are agitating to bounce us into the Euro. Will Clown risk making this an election 'pledge', after having allowed the £ to slump to parity with the Euro?

FACT: There are many, many people in the public sector covertly scheming for England to be subsumed into the Eurocrats super-state, many of them entryists whose only loyalty is to the secretive Common Purpose. You won't hear about this in the controlled media, for example Peston is one of the Common Purpose nomenklatura.

As soon as you see the word "fact" you know an opinion is about to follow
Personally I don't understand the flag waving jingoism that won't contemplate the Euro under any circumstances. If I believed it would be better for the UK economy then I would support it. Whereas the anti-lobby are anti whether it is good for us or not.

I don't happen to think it would be beneficial at the moment, not do I think any politician seriously does. Economies have to be stable and converged before it even becomes an option. It is certainly not something to do in a moment of desperation to get out of a short term problem.

At the moment, with bailouts in the billions, there are huge sums of non-money appearing, disappearing and jumping around in the markets. The volatility out there is incredible. It's already sunk one country - Iceland, and more may follow.

The biggest currencies are the most stable. The one's not so affected by an extra several billion moving here or there because it's only a fraction of the trade that takes place in them daily.

Sterling as a relatively small currency is vulnerable.

Personally I wish we had joined the euro years ago when it was launched. I dont get this "Must save the pound" mentality that people in this country have. To be honest when you put a vote to the masses I am not sure that most people know exactly what they are voting for!

If this devaluation of the pound against the Euro continues then we will all be holidaying in the UK going forward................

Indeed, I've often wondered why these "we must have the queens head on our currency" people, don't take a certain satisfaction from the realisation that the Germans and French will also have the queens head on their currency.

I'm about to lose £1000 on a transfer to euros I should have made last week. Can anyone tell me if I'm better off waiting a few weeks to see if it goes back up a little? I was quoted 1.16 today but would be happier at 1.20

Our money looks nicer than theirs.

in all honesty, if the ECB said that the UK would be allowed to retain the banknote designs and replace the £ with a € sign, everyone who's against it would probably say alright.

The actual concept of purchasing power, inflation and stability is utterly beyond the general populace.

Damn them, damn them thrice if you must. But if the pound has devalued 15% in the last 6 months against the Euro and as a smaller currency we are suffering instability, then I can't see much practical benefit in Sterling - just the usual Little Englander rhetoric.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
