We have 2 cars both insured in my husbands name with myself as the additional driver.
We have got 6 years no claims on one insurance policy
The other policy is for a car we got last year.
My question is Can we claim for 6 years NCD on both insurnaces?

No, one persons no claims bonus (NCB) can only be used on one car at a time.
If you both have x years NCB in your own right then you can both insure each car separately using your own NCB and then putting the other on as spouse or named driver.
EDIT:
Just re-read my post and it is as clear as mud  . For example:
If you have 3 years NCB and your husband has 6 years NCB.
Your husband insures car 1 as it's the most expensive to insure using his NCB (and therefore you save the most by using the largest NCB) and adds spouse.
You insure car 2 as it's the least expensive to insure using your lesser NCB and add your spouse.
Hope that makes sense.
PS. Where NCB = no claims bonus, NCD = no claims discount. Discount and bonus are not quite interchangeable in insurance terms as NCD is often given with special introductory offers where as NCB is earned. Some insurers do use them interchangeably to mean the same thing just to add further confusion.0 -
Hi - understand that elephant insurance and msm insurance amongst many others will mirror the maximum ncd you have on one car onto your second/additional car. Also ring your local high street broker.
Worth a few phone calls as the amount involved is significant.

You are better off insuring your main cair in your own name if you can:- search around for the best introductory discount. Otherwise, if you have an accident, both of you lose out. (Your husband loses noclaims discount/bonus AND you have an accident to declare which inflates both HIS policies if you are a named driver)
BTW "protected no claims bonus" means that on renewal you keep the old bonus, but the base price is loaded because you had a claim: result= you pay more!I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
