  • I don't think the rate will get any better (maybe up to 1.6) the dollar has historically been around the 1.50 mark the last few years it has been high at the 2.0 mark.

Sorry for the doom and gloom.

Free site for exchange rates and a calculator at poundtoeuro I use it to keep an eye on the euro mainly but it does do other currencies.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I had this with Nationwide - email and ask for explicit reasons why they refused to open the account. for me, it was because one piece of info said Flat G, 67 xxx Road and the other said 67G xx Road. After emailing very shirty emails to the CEO and every body on the board for 2 days, they opened my account, sent me my card and info express and sent me the biggest basket of flowers I've ever seen outside a wedding.

If they have refused you and are quoting your credit report (which they did for me) you have the right to ask them which part of the credit report they are relying on. if they say (as with me) go to Experian, do - but also insist on them letting you know precisely what they think makes you unsuitable. The call centre people will insist that they can't go into details and you need to go to Experian, that's incorrect info - they are relying on the data and must share it with you on request.

In the end, it was because no one could be @rsed to untick a box and I had flowers, and an apology it would not happen again. If you're confident of your financial status, I'd push and not let it lie - if they say you have no credit & you dispute it push harder - I had the customer services manager lie about what was contained in my record because she actually could not be bothered to sort it out (hence the shirty emails - misunderstandings I can take, making things up as you go along, esp when I'm taking notes is another thing).

Good luck and ring, then email them first thing Monday to get to the bottom of things.

What do you guys think the pound to dollar will be by June (This is when I go).

Not to worried about exchanging money as I have just about all the money I need and was bought when it was at $2 to £1. Didn't get to use it due to injury and cancellation of the holiday, but rebooked the holiday once the insurance payed out so looking forward to my Florida holiday whoop whoop...Thank god I took out RBS Gold before the holiday they were quick and helpful in telling us we could claim successfully.

I appreciate you replying, Ive done my free credit check and it shows im clear on all previous unused (store accounts) accounts. I owe no money / have no outstanding depts, but have also never used a credit card / store card to buy anything,

Still worth pushing if ive never used any credit accounts/cards ?

Im considering Abbey zero but worried if im turned away again. Im away for 70 days so i really need to keep the fees to the minimum.
My only other option is prepay cards, but if i lost it etc id be completely moneyless.
