Be careful when you try to return stuff to Debenhams that have been reduced by 50% or more.

They dont refund your money back. They dont even give a giftcard anymore - They only let you exchange.

It's a right pain. I feel so sorry for the staff.

I bought reduced items for my Wife and Mum whilst I was in there, but they didnt fit - Had to search round for stuff to buy to exchange the items.

I wont bother again !!!! Just not worth picking up a bargain for someone else in Debenhams anymore.

Anyway - Rant over, sorry if you already knew this - Happy New Year anyway !!!!!

Jules saving money correct but not pure stinginest and digusting behviour. You sound like a person who should put everything on lay by, who is always waiting for the next sale and wanting to get one over someone. Comments such as .... "welcome as a reggae band at a ku klux klan meeting!! " are disgusting.

Widen your wallet and spread the wealth, enjoy life and stop being such a tight !!!!!!, if you miss out, you should miss out - not go in and return and buy it again. Keep some respect and have some dignity!

    In a word: Yes

Legally you cannot refund or even exchange goods because they you changed your mind, bought something else etc even if you do have a receipt.

Most retailers refund policies are additional to your legal rights. Legally a retailer is only obliged to refund or exchange goods that are faulty. The law gives you no refund rights in respect of unfaulty goods.

really? i brought a top that was reduced more than 50% in the last sales, and when I got home realised that there was a hole in in, they still wouldnt give me a refund, had to have a gift card.

the extra 20% off sale prices also apply instore from Weds 4th - Tues 10th Jan, only if you use your Debenhams card though. for shopping online, use the code 'PTAP', mentions in T&C's code cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount offer

The fact that an item is in sale does not affect your legal rights.

If when you bought the top you knew nothing about the hole and Debenhams did not make you aware of it then you were entitled to a refund (you did not need to provide a receipt although it always helps if you can).

If however Debenhams had pointed out the fault to you at the till and given you a further discount for the fault then you would not be entitled to a refund because of that fault.
