You may be a genuine poster but unfortunately you post does come across as a scam. If it isn't then surely there must be something else you can come up with. I don't think you are going to manage to convince someone to lend you so much money when they don't know you.
  • Hi rapidlearner I'm afraid simpywimpy is right...I understand that this might be a last restort for you and my heart goes out to you but it's an awful lot to ask of people that don't know you.

Your family might be of the 'what were you thinking' mentality but at the end of the day they're your family and shouldn't hold anything against you for a genuine mistake. We all make them!

I know that time might be a bit precious with you studying and being a single parent but is there anything that you could do to bring some extra cash in? Maybe declutter and sell on ebay or something like that? Drop your child/ren off with your family whilst you work a couple of hours on an evening cleaning or pulling pints? Any skills that you have that you could make some money out of?

If things are really dire are there any benefits that you could be claiming to help you out?

Let us know how you get on and just hang in there.....it always seems darkest before it gets light xx
No trees were damaged in the posting of this message but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
  • Yes I am genuine.

And it was a shot in the dark.

Wow, Im pretty stuck for ideas... I need to find a way of working but it would mean I'll have to give up my work experience and defer my year!!

Thanks for your quick replies though, I was actually afraid that I would get someone trying to scam me! again! somehow.

There are these doorstep loan companies that do £500 max but they charge on average 1000% interest with early repayment charge and that just sounds like HELL!

rapidlearner you do realise that this thread will be removed as you cant ask people on here for money even if it is a loan. You may well be genuine but there are all sorts of scams and even begging emails from people saying they got cancer etc and this turned out to be a scam

We all make mistakes. I would if it was me ask my family. You may well have learnt your lesson that hard way pyramid schemes are just not ethical or immoral but damn right con for many

I just looked at you other posts and you were made bankrupt in 2004 Ex Bankrupt whilst I dont want to judge you surely it would be hard for anyone wanting to lend you money when 1. they dont know you. 2 you defaulted on a loan in the past. So not many companies would touch you I am afraid not without highest rates. Go to your parents and ask
  • Surprised no-one has mentioned it.

Exactly what you are looking for as well.
  • I deleted it myself.

It was a desperate shot in the dark. I realise it was stupid of me to be so compulsive but we all get desperate at times.

Im not a charity case or scam artists, if anything, too vulnrable and trustworthy.

I was offering an investment for a resonable return. I'll look at other ways.

I like this site as it gave me some practical advice in the past when I went bankrupt.

I have been stung twice and very different ways, and have learnt from my experiences. Thanks for all your honest replies.

Okay I realise that going to the parents isnt easy, hell it would be last thing I would like to do with asking my mum

So I would write a letter carefully wording it out.Tell them you did a silly thing hell we all do silly things and asking them if its possible to help out even if ist not the full amount.

Some colleges have hardship funds if you are on benefit there is also a hardship fund obviously it has to be paid back at some point. You just need a bridging loan to help temporarily
  • Hmmmm.... Parents are sturggling for money themselves at the moment. They've been hit by the credit crunch and working overtime etc to pay their mortgage...

Dont think Ill be accepted for Zopa due to my credit history but it looks like a fantastic website. (I bet its how most people will operate in the future). I would definately go down that route instead of banks in the future.

I've tried the uni access to learning fund, they said, No.- maybe they'll give me a bridging loan.

been looking at jobs and even in London, there isn't many immediate start opportunities in bars, clubs etc.

However, there are a lot of these street charity fundraiser jobs that pay about £8 per hour and its more or less immediate start... Not sure if I could bring myslef to do it for a month as I can imagine how tedious and demotivating that job is, especially in the rain but if needs must.

Does anybody know of any call centre jobs that are available part - time weekends only (not commision only based) without going through a recruitment agency? My experience with agencys are that they prolong and mess me around.

    Thanks again

Exactly what you are looking for as well.

Zopa does have quite tight borrowing criteria so only the top 50% of borrowers can even apply for a loan, but a large proportion of those would themselves be turned down. It may be worth a try but I don't think you would qualify.
