Charges after card paid up

Hi there

A family member had a Morgan Stanley account which they cleared in February, all the payment protections were cancelled too, then suddenly in July the charges appeared, after several phone calls explaining the situation, the bank is saying they must pay up and yet no-one even told them the charges had been reapplied or even notified them until they were overdue.

How does the family member stand on this?

    What are the charges for?
  • Yeah, what were the charges for and how did they not appear on the monthly statement before they were overdue? They can't be overdue if there is no due date.
  • sorry for the late reply
    the family member here
    they are late payment charges
I didnt even know I had a barclay card until this statement which show late payment charges at £12 interest at £1 and an AXA insurance for .44p
    totalling £56

they are now threatening me and calling me all the time
I have explained this to them
last time they called they fobbed me off saying they hadnt got any of this on record
they told me they had taken over in september
sent a card out in august but the payment protection was from july
if this is so why didnt morgan stanley get in touch?
this is the first I have heard of any of this and am pretty confused
I dont have £60 to chuck away like this
  • Pay £60 now or by Xmas they will have doubled.
You paid the statement balance by the looks of things - the charges would have been applied on the next statement.
You should have had a statement showing these entries though.
