Blue screen on LCD TV

Cousin has a Hitachi 32LD9700U LCD tv which he had for 16 months. He switched it on today and all he got was a blue screen. He could hear the program but no picture. Told him to disconnect all scart leads and any other leads from back apart from tv cable. No difference. Then asked him to press menu button but nothing appears on the screen.

Any idea what the fault can be?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Irrespective of how long the warranty is, 16 months is clearly not an adequate lifetime for an LCD TV.

Your friend should return it to where it was bought, politely requesting a replacement or repair, as it was obviously made to an adequate standard.

If your friend refers to the Sale of Goods Act he might if lucky find someone there who knows their obligations. If not, he may have to shout a bit...
